Jemma Andrews is a versatile performer and brass teacher based in Essex.

Performer and Brass Teacher

Jemma Andrews is a versatile performer and brass teacher based in Essex. Her work spans solo performance, ensemble playing, education and community music, with a flexible approach that adapts to each setting.

She began playing the cornet at an early age and went on to study at the Junior Guildhall School of Music and Drama with Richard Jones. Jemma studied with Robert Farley at Trinity Laban before graduating from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama with a BMus (Hons), where she was taught by Paul Mayes, Paul Cosh and Stephen Keavy.

Performance career

Jemma has performed as principal trumpet with the London Film Music Orchestra, touring across the UK and Europe and appearing at venues including St Paul’s Cathedral, cathedrals and major concert halls across Europe.

She has also performed with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and Docklands Sinfonia, with appearances at Buckingham Palace, the Barbican, the BBC’s Maida Vale Studios and the BBC Proms with the National Youth Wind Orchestra of Great Britain.

Teaching, workshops and inclusive practice

Alongside her performing work, Jemma is a passionate advocate for collaborative and inclusive music-making. She appeared as guest soloist for The Music Man Project at the Royal Albert Hall, performing alongside the Band of the Royal Marines, and has contributed to large-scale projects at venues including the London Palladium and the Royal College of Music.

Her teaching is known for clarity, creativity and a supportive approach, with a strong emphasis on confidence, musicality and a genuine enjoyment of music.

Jemma teaches brass alongside singing, theory and aural skills, and offers workshops and masterclasses for young players.
